Dr. Sherk is a 2011 graduate of the Jacobs School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. Recently, he has received awards from the University of Buffalo for "Outstanding Contribution to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry" as well as for his publication "Liquid melatonin via gastrostomy as an alternative hypnotic in a child with Pervasive Developmental Disorder" published in the Journal Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology.
Dr. Sherk has a highly comprehensive approach to mental health treatment based on mindfulness and positive self expression. He believes in tailoring treatment options to fit the need of each individual patient. While medication alone is enough for some, it is not always the sole solution. He believes that a combination of medication management and an appropriate, tailored form of therapy is often the best path to treatment success.
I hold a master's degree in communications disorders and current state and national licenses as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I have been practicing for 9 years and specialize in pediatric speech therapy. I believe the ability to communicate is a human right and helping people achieve functional communication greatly improves the quality of life.
As a speech-language pathologist I understand and apply different therapy techniques and theories to each individual's personalized therapy plan and sessions. I hope to create a fun and productive session each time a client is seen that will help them gain the skills necessary to communicate and participate in the community.
